After our recent photographic and video exhibitions Three castles in winter, Gold and Light, Boats, Castles, Cakes, we continue our quest, this time through the prism of color…
This exhibition reflects our deliberately soft and poetic vision of the moment before the encounter, of the first glance. It stops at the first swirls when the glass begins to turn, setting the color in motion… Just before handing over to the other senses, because what follows is another story… a beautiful one!
Because life is in color, we imagined this exhibition as a tribute to the magicians of hue and pigment, to those who master the difficult and subjective reproduction of colors… To the offset experts, to the men and women of Print System in Bègles.
We chose red… Magenta, ruby, purple, scarlet, vermilion, garnet, carmine, Grand Cru! Red suggests energy, nobility, alertness, emotion… Feelings that are an integral part of our lives.
When speaking of red, wine and its biotope cannot escape our lenses. Sensitive to the various expressions of wine through our senses, color seems to us, as image-makers, the most appropriate way to express our sensitivity.
One morning in March, we met Château Angélus. We immediately knew it was the one. Driven and moved by this love at first sight, we asked for carte blanche and got it…
You don't tame color, you try to capture it, to reproduce it. You observe it, admire it, it transports you. On tiptoe we approached to capture the richness of its reds, playing with different, even harsh lights, or by the soft glow of a candle, to reveal, perhaps, hitherto unsuspected colors.
When starting this work, we already had in mind soft and voluptuous images of persistent, bright or dark, pastel or vivid colors, with their dazzling transparencies, their disturbing and — almost! — intoxicating promises.
Seeking simplicity: a conceptual and visual approach sometimes close to abstraction, we deliberately directed our gaze into the intimacy of surfaces and the depth of volumes, to the moment when colors play with us with the complicity of materials and light. With simple touches, here we are discovering the infinitely colorful, revealed in broad daylight, in high definition.
